The Lobster Pot in Upper Hale opened its doors in May 2005. Our philosophy is simply: we are passionate about what we buy and how we cook it.
Our fresh
fish and seafood is delivered daily so we have the pick of the markets.
Our meat comes from the Barn Catering Butchers on Elvetham Estate, and they
supply the finest British beef and the best quality meat in the locality.
G Hone of Farnham supply all our fresh fruit and vegetables directly from Covent
Garden. And our mixed baby salad leaves come from Secretts Farm, Milford, Surrey.
The desserts are all freshly prepared on the premises.
Our cellar is packed full of quality wines, draught beers and local real ales
to compliment our food.
The menu has many gluten-free dishes offering a much needed ‘safe place’
for Coeliacs to dine.
Thomas Stewart – Chef Patron
Tom
Stewart has worked in the catering profession for 25 years and has owned his
own business for the last 17.
His career started in Ireland where he worked his apprenticeship, winning the
student of the year at catering college and working at the renowned Marfield
House, Gorey. He moved to Switzerland and London, working in quality establishments
such as Rue St Jacques, Maxime’s, Les Alouettees in order to increase
his knowledge.
Tom’s first solo restaurant was Claire De Lune, Bruton, Somerset, that
he opened with his wife Kate in 1988. The following year saw him winning an
Acorn Award from the industry magazine, The Caterer and Hotel Keeper, as one
of 30 under 30’s most likely to succeed in the industry.
He became a director of Smart Restaurant Ltd in 1996. To date the company has
owned hugely successful gastro pubs in Hampshire: The Queens Head, The George
& Lobster, The Crab and Anchor and The Red Lion, Milford, Surrey.
Now all the years of experience are being centred on The Lobster Pot, Upper
Hale, Farnham, Surrey.
Bruno Bellemere - Manager at The Lobster Pot
Bruno Bellemere
has worked in catering for 27 years. He started in France with an apprenticeship
and exams that found him 3rd best in the county. Bruno then came to England
to learn the language and has been here ever since.
Bruno spent 13 years at Les Alouettes, Claygate, Surrey, and was the manager
when it obtained a Michelin Star. He then took the opportunity to manage The
Tante Clare, Chelsea, London with chef Pierre Koffman. During his 4 years there
it retained its 3 Michelin Stars.
Bruno moved out of London to Haselmere where he managed the Michelin Star restaurant,
The Fleur De Sel, with chef Michel Peraud. He movied to Fleet in 1998.
He managed The Queens Head, Dogmersfield and The George & Lobster, Crookham
Village for Smart Restaurant Ltd helping to build up their reputation.
Bruno also owned Le Chapeau in Fleet for 2 years.
Bruno and Tom are putting their years of experience together to create a gastro-pub
that is one of the finest eating houses in the Surrey/Hampshire borders.
We have created a pub that we would like to eat and drink in ourselves.
The Lobster Pot is a place to have a pint, a fresh baguette, a glass of Pinot Grigio, a bowl of olives, a 3- course meal or a pot of mussels. A place where your Ferrari driver can sit alongside your bricklayer and both equally enjoy what is on offer.
At the Lobster Pot you are offered food and service from the heart.
Coeliac Frinedly
Coeliac Diseas is caused by and intolerance to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and even oats. It can be treated very successfully by excluding gluten from the diet.
The style of the menu makes it possible for most of the food on offer at The Lobster Pot to be celiac friendly. My daughter, Jessica, is a Coeliac and I understand how it is possible to exclude gluten from your diet and also how difficult eating out can be.
All items
on our menu marked with * are gluten free. Our salads and vegetables, including
dressings are gluten free. Rice, mashed potato, potato cakes and new potatoes
are all gluten free. We do not include sauté potatoes or chips as an
option due to the possibility of cross contamination during the frying process.
Please do not read this it is just a way to name check as many places as possible.
